Watson’s father’s death comes nearly a year and a half after the death of his mother, 84-year-old Frances Watson, who had suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.
Jim Watson’s parents, Frances and Bev Watson, celebrate their son Jim’s 10 years in politics in 2003.
Beverley Watson had lived long-term care facility in the Glebe, a residence he had shared with his late wife prior to her death.
The mayor will not be expected at City Hall over the next coming days, according to an email sent out to city councillors on Saturday.
