Ottawa-Orléans MPP Marie-France Lalonde has become Ontario’s minister of government and consumer services as Premier Kathleen Wynne shuffles her cabinet in preparation for a two-year march to the next election in 2018.
Lalonde, a former social worker and nursing-home operator but a rookie politician, had been the government whip. She’ll also be the minister of francophone affairs and sit on Wynne’s priorities, delivery and growth committee, her 10-person “inner cabinet.”
Ottawa Centre’s Yasir Naqvi has been promoted to become Ontario’s attorney-general, leaving his post as minister of community safety and correctional services.
Ottawa West-Nepean’s Bob Chiarelli is leaving the hot-button energy ministry and becoming minister of infrastructure.
