Two men are facing a string of charges after a woman was threatened with handguns during what police believe was a targeted home invasion in the east end Monday.

Police said two suspects knocked on the door in the 300 block of Trailsedge Way at about 1:05 p.m. then rushed inside when a woman answered the door. Inside the home, each brandished a handgun and pointed it at the victim, ordering her to help them search the house.

Patrol officers arrived as the suspects were carrying items from the house, police said. They also recovered two loaded handguns.

Police said they don’t believe the incident was random and the investigation continues.

The woman was unhurt.

Nicholas Vandenbosch and Justin Clement, both 25, are jointly charged with robbery with an offensive weapon, conspiracy, breaking and entering and forcible confinement. They are also individually charged with pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon to commit an offence, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm without a license and possession of a loaded firearm.

They were to appear in court Tuesday.

Anyone with information about this or any other robbery is asked to call the city police robbery unit at (613) 236-1222 ext. 5116. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers anonymously at (800) 222-8477 or download the Ottawa Police app.
