Gatineau police are sending a 17-year-old girl home to her family near Montreal after finding the teenager working as a sex-trade worker in a Gatineau motel.

Police set up a meeting with the girl after getting a tip that the motel — which police aren’t identifying — was being used for sex-trade work. Police contacted her family to tell them where the girl was and to make arrangements for her return trip home.

Gatineau police are asking anyone with information about human trafficking or women being forced into sex-trade work to call the anti-gang unit at 819 243-INFO, extension 3. Police said they will meet with women to see whether they are being abused, and will explain what resources are available to them.
