Ottawa – The City will be partially re-opening the ByWard Parking Garage, at 70 Clarence Street in the ByWard Market, as of Friday, June 17. The garage has been undergoing maintenance and repairs over the past several weeks and its re-opening will provide motorists with easy access to the many businesses, museums, galleries, restaurants and more, that are situated in the ByWard Market.

Approximately 200 parking spots will be available on levels P3 and P4. Accessible parking spaces will be available on P2 at ground level. Stairs at the northwest corner and southeast corner of the garage and the elevator will also be operational. Payment will be available at temporary Pay and Display machines located on all open levels of the parking garage.

Some construction will continue in part of P2, as well as in P1 (the basement) until the end of June. Some sidewalks around the garage will also remain closed while repairs to the exterior brickwork are completed. It is expected that the parking garage will be fully open and operational by the end of June. Until the garage is fully open, the motorcycle parking compound will not be available. However, half-price motorcycle parking is available on levels P3 and P4 using the Pay and Display machines.

Repairs in the ByWard Parking Garage included:

  • Basement level resurfacing
  • Upgrading the fire alarm system
  • Improving the foundation wall
  • Painting
  • Installing new doors and frames
  • Repairing concrete throughout the garage
  • Renewing the electrical systems
