A dumpster fire spread to the back of a strip mall in Vanier early Sunday morning, Ottawa Fire Services said.
The fire began at about 5:30 a.m. behind the two-storey commercial building at 281 Montreal Road.
Firefighters said the fire quickly spread to the back wall of the building that houses the Eazy Cash Payday Loans and Dupont Gold and Pawn Shop.
The fire was under control by 5:50 a.m. Firefighters will remain on the scene for most of the morning to ventilate the building and investigate the cause.
No one was injured and damage has yet to be assessed.
