An arbitrator has awarded Ottawa police officers a one-year wage settlement for 2015, according to a decision released this week by the province.

For the first seven months of last year, officers were given a 1.25 per cent wage increase. They will receive a 1.78-per-cent wage increase for the latter portion of the year.

The rank-and-file’s contract expired on Dec. 31, 2014, and officers continue to work without a long-term agreement.

The arbitrator refused to rule on a number of other issues — raised by both the association and the police board — including sick leave, indemnification, meal and travel allowances, clothing allowances, vacation leave and dry cleaning allowances. Those will be subject to further negotiations.
