Police in the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais have charged Simon Ménard, 29, of Gatineau with a host of charges including attempted murder in connection with an incident last weekend in which a 23-year-old Gatineau man was kidnapped, shot and dumped near Meech Lake.
In a terse release, police said Ménard has been charged with “attempted murder, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, discharging a firearm, using a firearm and uttering death threats.”
The unidentified victim was described as being seriously injured. His injuries included both a bullet wound and strikes from a blunt instrument, the release stated.
Police continued to refuse to discuss the details or motives behind the kidnapping and attack.
Police initially described the incident as “nebulous” and in the latest release said “no information will be disseminated as to the motives of the assault.”
Police are asking for information at a confidential tip line: 1-844-477-2529.
