Ottawa – Rideau Street between Sussex Drive and Waller Street will reopen to OC Transpo and STO buses as well as taxis on Saturday, July 2nd.
“Since the road collapse occurred a little over three weeks ago, crews have been working around the clock to safely restore and repair the roadway,” said Mayor Jim Watson. “We wanted it done as soon as possible, but it had to be done safely – I applaud everyone’s efforts and cooperation."
Rideau Street between Sussex Drive and Dalhousie Street remains closed to motorists and cyclists as construction continues on the O-Train Confederation Line project. This street closure began in June 2015 and will remain in place until 2018.
Information on OC Transpo service will be available on octranspo.com
Businesses remain open as usual downtown. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians should visit ottawa.ca for maps and more detailed information to enjoy food, sightseeing, shopping and entertainment in vibrant downtown Ottawa.
“Rideau Street is Ottawa’s entertainment hub. I hope that all residents and tourists come downtown this summer and experience all it has to offer,” said Rideau-Vanier Ward Councillor, Mathieu Fleury. “The roads and sidewalks are open, the streets are clear and businesses are ready to serve you.”
