Firefighters hunted but the family cat was nowhere to be found after a fire broke out in a Hintonburg apartment Monday afternoon.
They got a 911 call after smoke was seen coming from the basement unit in the low-rise building at 33 Rosemount Ave. A working fire and then a second-alarm fire was declared because of smoke in multiple units and hallways. It was declared under control at 5:32 p.m.
The resident wasn’t home but firefighters learned that the pet had been inside.
No damage total was released and the cause is still under investigation.
