It’s getting steamy in the nation’s capital.
Environment Canada issued a heat warning for Ottawa early Tuesday morning, with temperatures are expected to climb to a high of 31 C. It will feel more like 33 C with the humidex.
Daytime temperatures are forecasted to hover around 30 C on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and humidex values of 40 C are expected.
Wednesday is predicted to get up to 33 C, but will feel more like 41 C with the humidity.
We’ll have a bit of relief from the humidity on Thursday, but will still see a daytime high of 30 C.
Cooler weather is expected by Friday.
Environment Canada warns that high temperatures, like those we’ll see in the next couple of days, can put people at risk for heat-related illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion. It’s recommended you check on neighbours, friends and older family members to make sure that they’re staying cool and hydrated.
People are also reminded not to leave people or pets inside of parked vehicles or in direct sunlight.
To report severe weather in the coming days, residents can send an email to storm.ontario@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #ONStorm.
