As of Monday, smokers will be persona non grata anywhere on the grounds at Bayshore Shopping Centre.
In what’s billed as a first for an Ottawa shopping centre, Bayshore will ban smoking throughout the property, indoors and outdoors, including entrances, parking areas and sidewalks.
The ban will be in effect at all times, even when the mall is closed. Exterior ashtrays will be removed.
“Bayshore Shopping Centre’s new smoke-free initiative is in place to improve our shoppers’ experience, and contribute to a healthier, greener centre,” Bayshore GM Denis Pelletier said in a release.
