The Tragically Hip are getting an official honour from the city for their final concert in Ottawa.
Aug. 18, 2016 is officially now known as The Tragically Hip Day in Ottawa, thanks to an official proclamation from Mayor Jim Watson.
The band is playing the Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday evening as part of their emotional farewell tour. Frontman Gord Downie announced in the spring that he had terminal cancer.
Watson posted the signed proclamation on Twitter on Wednesday.
