The man wanted for murder after an original member of Ottawa’s most notorious street gang was gunned down in a ByWard Market club is believed to be in Toronto, authorities say.
Police issued a statement Wednesday saying that Mustafa Ahmed, 28, is believed to be in the Greater Toronto area.

The Ottawa Police Service Major Crime Unit is seeking public information to locate wanted suspect Mustafa AHMED (m) 28 years old, of Ottawa in relation to the homicide on August 14, 2016 on Dalhousie Street. He is described as being 5’11” (180 cm), approx 141 lbs (64 kg), slender build with black long wavy hair and brown eyes.
Ahmed is wanted for second-degree murder in the death of 33-year-old Omar Rashid-Ghader, and police repeated Wednesday that their prime suspect is considered “armed and dangerous.”
Around 3:20 a.m. Sunday, someone shot Rashid-Ghader multiple times at the Sentral nightclub on Dalhousie Street.
Omar Rashid-Ghader was killed by gunshots in Sentral, a nightclub in the ByWard Market.
An original member of the south-end Ledbury-Banff Crips, Rashid-Ghader was well-known to police. Known as “Esco” — short for “Escobar” — Rashid-Ghader had multiple run-ins with the law, dating back at least to 2003. He was also an aspiring rapper and hip hop star, with several videos posted on YouTube over the years. He left behind a wife and young children.
Ahmed was a known associate of the victim and is also known to police.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the Ottawa police major crime section at 613-236-1222, ext.5493. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
