The woman shown texting at the wheel in a widely viewed video taken by a motorcyclist faces three driving charges and will surrender to police by the end of Thursday, Ottawa police say.

Police still haven’t named the woman, who was recorded by a motorcyclist who knocked on her SUV’s window.

She drove suddenly in front of him, he followed her through the streets, and the whole episode got more than 1.5 million Facebook views.

Now police say the woman has agreed to come and meet police, who are going to charge her with careless driving, distracted driving and failure to notify authorities of a change of address. (She was using Newfoundland licence plates although she moved to Ottawa to start a new job in mid-July.)

There are no charges against motorcyclist Erik Hanna “at this time,” police say, but they add that the investigation is still continuing.

More to come
