Run. Walk. Volunteer. Give. Join The Lung Association’s Team Breathe volunteer crew at the Defrancos Lung Run on Saturday, Oct. 1 in the Barrhaven area. Volunteer with registration, course marshalling, at the finish line area, or sign up to raise funds and run/walk in support of breathing. Contact melanie@on.lung.ca or defrancoslungrun.com.

Circles of Support and Accountability is a Canada-wide community-based reintegration program assisting individuals who have been incarcerated for committing sexual offences in their effort to develop a meaningful, crime-free life in the community. Volunteers meet as a group and individually with a former offender to assist him in the reintegration process. Needed are mature, enthusiastic individuals of all ages (min. 21 years), from all backgrounds and lifestyles; in particular, recently or soon-to-be retired, who are non-judgmental, resourceful and have approx. two hours per week, and can commit to a circle for one year. CoSA-Ottawa is hosting a one-hour information session for interested volunteers on Monday, Sept. 26, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. or Saturday, Oct. 1, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Basic training follows (16 hours). The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation is hosting its Epic Walk on Saturday, Sept. 24. Bike Marshalls are needed for five shifts: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; bike the route and follow the participants along the route to ensure their safety. Route Marshalls are needed: 50 per shift, three-hour shifts; direct participants along the route, help them cross streets — great for pairs of volunteers. Parking Marshalls needed: two shifts, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.; direct volunteers, participants families/friends, and VIPs to the EPIC Walk assigned parking areas. Matthew House Ottawa: Refugee Services & Furniture Bank invites you to have fun on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Ride for Refuge in north Kanata. Help 17 local charities fundraise for the vulnerable, exploited and displaced including refugees in Ottawa.
