Section of Riverside Drive temporarily closed overnight

Ottawa – The section of Riverside Drive beneath the McIlraith Bridge, near Main Street and Smyth Road, will be closed to all traffic between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night starting September 19 and lasting for up to six weeks. This closure is required as part of the bridge rehabilitation project.


Motorists and cyclists will be detoured through the area via the on and off ramps with some modifications at the intersection of Smyth Road. Daytime traffic will not be impacted.


The City of Ottawa has tools on ottawa.ca to help motorists and transit users plan their routes and manage their commute including:

• OttawaNav – the City’s mobile application for real-time construction and traffic information
• City of Ottawa Traffic Report – outlining city-wide road closures, traffic restrictions and detours
• Travel Planner at octranspo.com – transit users can chart and plan routes
• Interactive traffic map – showing construction areas and live traffic cameras throughout the city
• Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO) cameras
• Cycling maps and information – detailing bicycle pathways and lanes throughout the city
