Ontario Provincial Police arrested a man in Quinte West, near Belleville, Friday after receiving calls of a man in nearby Trenton who appeared to be carrying a long gun.
Police said the calls starting coming in at around 9:30 a.m. about a man in a brown leather jacket with the hood up, carrying a back pack.
Police ordered all schools in the immediate area to enact “Secure and Hold” protocols, which saw doors locked and students forbidden from leaving the building.
Shortly before 11 a.m., officers from the Quinte West detachment located the man and took him into custody.
OPP would not comment on whether the man was arrested with a weapon because the investigation is ongoing.
All schools have returned to normal activities.
