Gatineau police called in the Sûreté du Québec, sealed off a small apartment building and closed Saint-Antoine Street to traffic Thursday when they shut down a suspected fentanyl lab.
Inside an apartment at 66 Saint-Antoine, near Parc La Baie, police seized 20 grams of fentanyl, a Taser and more than $3,300 in cash. They arrested a 31-year-old man and 23-year-old woman who are both facing charges of possession of drugs, trafficking and possession of a prohibited weapon.
They haven’t yet been publicly identified.
The building was sealed to prevent the accidental release of powder from the suspected fentanyl lab. Fentanyl is dangerous in tiny amounts.
Police said they got the search warrant after receiving a tip from the public. They encourage further tips to the gangs unit at 819-243-4636, option 3.
