While no vehicles were swallowed up this time, Ottawa police took extra precautions by closing part of Rideau Street on Sunday when another sinkhole opened up.
Police said the sinkhole was “small” but they were not able to give an approximate size of the opening. Rideau Street was closed Sunday afternoon between Sussex Drive and Dalhousie Street as city crews assessed the hole.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area and transit users were told buses that use Rideau Street were being detoured.
All routes serving Rideau street are being detoured in both directions on the Mackenzie King bridge due to road degradation.

The City of Ottawa is investigating.
The small sinkhole appeared less than three months after a massive sinkhole gobbled up a parked van on June 8 and shut down the same section of Rideau Street for nearly three weeks.
