Ottawa – The City of Ottawa and Impact Hub Ottawa are now accepting online nominations for the first annual Ottawa Social Impact Awards, which will highlight new Ottawa-based community initiatives and social enterprises that have significant potential for growth and lasting social impact.
These awards will:
The deadline to complete an online submission form is October 28. Nominees must fit into one of two categories: a Community-Based Initiative or a Social Enterprise, and they must be making a positive social impact through innovative, collaborative and scalable work.
The public can visit the Social Impact Awards page on ottawa.ca for information on how to vote for the nominees that they feel are making Ottawa a better place. Voting is open throughout the nomination process and will close on November 4. The five nominees that receive the most votes in each of the two categories will become finalists.
The top 10 finalists will be reviewed and evaluated by a panel of business and community leaders who will announce one winner from each category at this year’s Social Enterprise Unleashed Conference, taking place on November 17.
The Ottawa Social Impact Awards are a legacy initiative of One Young World, the preeminent global forum for young leaders aged 18 to 30. The 2016 One Young World Summit took place in Ottawa from September 28 to October 1, 2016 and attracted 1,300 youth delegates from 196 countries.
