The Ottawa police guns and gangs unit is seeking the public’s help identifying where gunshots were fired after a man walked into the Montfort Hospital on Friday with a gunshot wound.
The man in his 20s suffered a non-life threatening wound to his calf. Hospital staff alerted police to the injury at about 8:45 p.m. on Friday.
Neither the injured man nor his friends were willing to tell the police where or how the gunshot wound was received. All three are known to police.
This shooting marked the 53rd of the year for the city. The 54th occurred on the evening of Thanksgiving Sunday, when a man was shot in the bum.
Police hope that anyone who recalls hearing one or more gunshots at anytime on Friday, Oct. 7, will contact them at 613-236-1222, ext. 5050. It is possible the gun might have been fired in the vicinity of the Montfort hospital, given that was where the victim went for treatment, police said.
