Ottawa police issued a call Thursday for the public’s help to identify a suspect in a residential break and enter in the city’s east end in August.

On Aug. 17 at around 1 p.m., police allege a man broke into a residence on the 400 block of MacKay Street in New Edinburgh and took a credit card.

That card was used on the same day at several retail stores, said police.

The suspect is described as a black man, between 19 to 25 years old, and 5-9 with a thin build and a bald or shaved head with some facial hair. He was wearing a light blue or green “Surf Pacific” hooded sweatshirt, grey cargo shorts, black running shoes and a grey “Zoo York” ball cap, according to surveillance images released by police.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call Ottawa Police’s Break and Enter Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 4533. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or by downloading the Ottawa Police app.
