Ottawa – Mayor Jim Watson will be joined by His Excellency David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, Councillor Riley Brockington, Chair of the Summit, and Jonathan Lister, VP Americas, Sales Solutions and Canada Country Manager at LinkedIn, for an Education and the Economy Summit being held at City Hall tomorrow.
Date: Friday, October 21
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Mayor Watson will provide opening remarks at 8:40 a.m., followed by the Governor General delivering the first keynote speech at 8:45 a.m. Speeches by Councillor Brockington and Jonathan Lister will follow, with workshops starting at 10 a.m. At 1:20 p.m., a panel comprised of all the workshop leads will offer insight based on the discussions from the morning workshops. Mayor Watson and Councillor Brockington will then close off the Summit by charting the next steps for increased collaboration.
Location: Ottawa City Hall, Jean Pigott Place, 110 Laurier Avenue West. Paid parking is available at City Hall and on surrounding streets.
The Summit will bring together local school boards, postsecondary institutions, governments, private industries, NGOs, and students with the goal of increasing collaboration and creating opportunities for students, while generating economic benefits for the city.
