It’s not quite time to get the skis waxed or check the snow pants for holes, but we may get the first glimpse of snow this season on Sunday.
Just after noon on Saturday, Environment Canada ended the rainfall warning the Capital Region had been enjoying for a few days, dousing us with over 45.2 millimetres of precipitation, when we were initially only forecast to receive 10 to 20 millimetres.
Rain was expected to continues falling throughout the day Saturday, just in more reasonable quantities. Temperatures were to reach 5 C during the day, with brisk northwesterly winds at about 28 to 39 km/h, and drop to 2 C overnight.
Sunday was to see a small peak in the temperature, nearing 9 C, with rain continuing. However, the temperature was to drop to 0 C overnight, and with precipitation still falling, could result in our first snow flurries of the season.
It will also be a night to remember how to watch for and drive on black ice.
Clouds were to remain Monday morning, with no forecast rain and high of 7 C into Tuesday, when the night time temperatures will begin to reach negative numbers, at -4 C.
