An Ottawa man was to appear in court Tuesday after patrol officers arrested a man shortly after a syringe-wielding thief held up an Orléans drug store on Halloween.
Ottawa police say a man walked into a pharmacy along the 1900 block of Portobello Boulevard around 4:30 p.m. disguised with a hat and scarf and carrying a syringe.
Police say the man demanded narcotics and ran off with an undisclosed quantity of prescription drugs.
The suspect was arrested in the area a short time later by patrol officers.
Andrew McNaughton, 30, of Ottawa, is charged with robbery with an offensive weapon, wearing a disguise, and possession of a weapon.
Anyone with information on any robbery is asked to contact the Ottawa police robbery unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5116. Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or by downloading the Ottawa police app.
