Residents living in the Carleton Place area are being advised to boil their water following a watermain break on Mississippi Road between Morris and Barker streets on Thursday.

Carleton Place officials are urging residents to follow the boil water advisory directions until the water has been deemed safe to consume — even if the water pressure in their homes appears to be normal.

“We are hopeful that test results that demonstrate the water is safe will be available shortly,” Carleton Place officials said in a written statement issued at 3:30 p.m.

A watering station has been set up at the Carleton Place Arena at 75 Neelin Street and will operate from 6 a.m. until midnight.

Residents in the affected area can pick up a daily ration of water for the duration of the advisory with a piece of identification showing a proof of address.
