Three pedestrians were injured, one seriously, by flying bricks on Friday after a collision at the intersection of Rideau and Augusta streets.
The Ottawa Paramedic Service said it responded at 4:05 p.m. to a crash involving a small car and a large pickup truck. The pickup struck a brick wall, and a 56-year-old woman was brought to the trauma centre in serious but stable condition with head and leg injuries after being struck by the dislodged bricks.
A 62-year-old woman was in stable condition with leg injuries and a third pedestrian, an adult male, was treated at the scene and released.
The 20-year-old woman who was driving the car was taken to hospital with neck and leg injuries while the driver of the pickup refused the paramedics’ assistance.
Ottawa police are investigating.
