Deer hunting season opened Monday morning and within hours, a 39-year-old Spencerville man had suffered a gunshot wound when his rifle discharged accidentally.
Ontario Provincial Police said the man, whose name was not released, was able to drive himself to hospital. He had been hunting near Lavant Mill Road in Lanark Highlands, about 35 kilometres northwest of Perth.
His injuries were not life-threatening, said Const. Greg Streng.
OPP were investigating.
