Job Summary

Teachers are responsible for instructing students in specific subjects within Math and Science streams . Courses offered are Math, Chemistry, Physics etc in Grade 10-12.

Primary responsibilities

  • Instruct students on various topics in Mathematics, Science
  • Through out the courses, the teacher is to follow the Ontario curriculum
  • Help students understand the basic foundations and further their knowledge of Mathematics or Science.
  • Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.
  • Meet course and school-wide student performance goals. Participate in ongoing training sessions.
  • Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.
  • Maintain grade books and classroom. Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.
  • Create projects designed to enhance lectures. Create course outline and unit plan.
  • Utilize various curriculum resources. Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
  • Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
  • Work with program coordinators to ensure initiatives are being met.
  • Tutor students on an individual basis (extra pay).
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare and distribute required reports. Observe and evaluate student's performance.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures.
  • Keep records of assessment of, as and for learning.
Minimal qualifications:

  • B.A or B.Sc in Mathematics or Science
  • One year experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Science, education, or related topic
  • At least 2 years teaching experience in a secondary school environment desirable
  • Ontario certified teacher
Work conditions

Normally from 10:00am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. Starting Feb.1st 2017.
