Ottawa police have closed a busy section of downtown Ottawa just east of King Edward Avenue, after reports of a suspicious package.
The road closures include both Rideau and Besserer streets between Nelson and Friel streets.
Police would say only the package was in the 200 block of Nelson Street.
Police are asking that residents avoid the block entirely until the investigation is complete.
Emergency crews have also called the hazardous materials teams for assistance in the investigation.
