Police were already investigating two separate stabbing incidents as the weekend began.
The first occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on Friday night on Waller Street. A verbal argument between two men unknown to each other became more heated, until one was stabbed. Several other men in the vicinity also joined in, escalating the fight. The fight had broken up by the time police arrived.
The stabbed man suffered minor injuries. No one was charged in that incident.
However, a 38-year-old woman is expected to appear in court Saturday to face several charges after a man was stabbed in the shoulder. The incident occurred at about 1 a.m. Saturday morning in the 3000 block of Uplands Drive.
Police said the 28-year-old victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being treated by paramedics. The two were not in a romantic relationship, police said.
The woman, whose name has not been released, faces charges of assault with a weapon and aggravated assault.
