An off-duty paramedic’s quick action is being credited for helping to save a man’s life after he suddenly collapsed at a gym on Innes Road.

According to emergency responders, a call was made around 9 a.m. on Monday after a 57-year-old man suddenly collapsed to the floor while working out.

An off-duty paramedic approached him and found the man with no vital signs. The paramedic immediately started CPR while staff at the facility retrieved a nearby AED (Automatic External Defibrillator). One shock from the device was able to revive the man’s pulse. He began breathing on his own shortly after.

The man was conscious and communicating when he was transported to hospital.
