A former Ottawa priest has been charged in connection with what police allege is a historical sexual assault.
William Barry McGrory, 82, of Toronto is charged with two counts of indecent assault on a male and two counts of gross indecency, as per Criminal Code charges existing at the time of the offences.
Ottawa police said investigators received a complaint in September and commenced an investigation into allegations of a sexual assault, in Ottawa in the late 1960s, involving a priest with the Archdiocese of Ottawa. The offences involved a boy who was 15 years old at the time.
McGrory is scheduled to appear in court Friday.

Investigators are concerned that there could be other victims.
In May, McGrory admitted in an interview that he had sexually abused three young parishioners at Ottawa’s Holy Cross Parish in the 1970s and ’80s. He said then-archbishop Joseph-Aurèle Plourde knew he had sexual problems — that he was powerfully attracted to adolescents — but did not send him for treatment. Instead, he was appointed president of an organization that aided remote Catholic missions in Canada.
Four years after leaving Ottawa, in 1991, McGrory was charged with sexually assaulting a 17-year-old native boy, and later convicted of that crime. He was given a suspended sentence and three years’ probation.
The Archdiocese of Ottawa subsequently settled out of court with two of McGrory’s victims. (A third Ottawa victim who was abused by McGrory as a boy is now suing the diocese for $1.5 million.)
