Police and fire officials are investigating the death of a man following an apartment fire in the Wellington Street West area early Sunday morning.
The fire broke out around 1 a.m. Firefighters entered a burning apartment, where they found a man in his forties.
The male was initially treated at the scene by paramedics, then was taken to the Ottawa Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
The Ottawa Police Service Arson Unit is taking over the investigation; however, the fire is not considered suspicious.
