Ottawa – The Auditor General reviewed the ServiceOttawa Program, management of the ByWard and Parkdale Markets, Specific Areas of Infrastructure Services, the Automated Meter Reading Project, the Environmental Services Department, and also provided an interim report on Light Rail Transit Planning and Change Management.

“We welcome the recommendations of the Auditor General, many of which have already been implemented,” said City Manager Steve Kanellakos.

“The recent reorganization has created clear accountabilities and will serve as the enabler to address the processes and controls within Environmental Services,” said Mr. Kanellakos. “It is also important to recognize that Service Ottawa and the Meter Reading initiatives were delivered on time, within or under budget and with no major service disruptions or technological issues. Additionally, work is well underway on the development of a Municipal Service Corporation governance model for the ByWard and Parkdale Markets. This work includes a formal business case that will be considered by Council in early 2017.”

Management will continue to work with the Auditor General’s Office to strengthen the practices and processes that support the services and programs that we provide to residents.

The Audit reports will be received and considered by City Council on December 14.
