The Ottawa Redblacks have already given long-suffering football fans exactly what they wanted with the city’s first Canadian Football League championship in 40 years.
But they kept on giving on Friday evening, bringing the Grey Cup to the tree lighting outside the Aberdeen Pavilion as the Lansdowne Christmas Market opened.
The holiday market will run for the next three weekends, on Fridays from 3 p.m. until 8, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The market is to feature more than 100 local food vendors, plus arts and crafts.
With the help of Santa, a Grey Cup and an Ottawa Redblack, a massive Christmas tree was lit up in front of the Aberdeen Pavillion in Lansdowne Park, where the Christmas Market opened.
