The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the death of a 38-year-old Ottawa-area man who fell from a building and died in North Bay on Sunday.
According to police, a call was received from emergency responders at around 1:30 p.m. asking for police assistance at an apartment building located at 365 Lakeshore Dr. in North Bay, about 350 km northwest of Ottawa.
When they arrived, police located the Ottawa man “near the building.”
At around 2:30 p.m., the man fell from the building to the ground below where he was pronounced dead, said the SIU.
The SIU has not released the victim’s name.
Three investigators and one forensic investigator were assigned to the investigation.
An autopsy on the man’s body was scheduled for Tuesday in Sudbury.
The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this incident to contact 1-800-787-8529 ext. 2038.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been a death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
