The score was close, but revenge is sweet.

Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi is going to have to pay up after the Stampeders failed to capture the Grey Cup. Nenshi owes Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson a poem of Watson’s choosing, while wearing the Redblacks’ jersey.

And Ottawa’s food bank shall see a sizeable donation.

Grumble. Grumble. But a bet's a bet. https://t.co/G4g7gwkC54

With apologies to author @JimWatsonOttawa, for those who didn't hear it, this is what .@nenshi recited at #yyccc. pic.twitter.com/uZbfeiZu84

There may be some salted caramel doughnuts from Calgary’s Jelly Modern showing up on Watson’s doorstep, as well.

hey we now how much you earn! My council is awaiting the 24 pack of jellied donuts! https://t.co/i5MR2vIXfz

It’s the second lost wager for Nenshi in recent days – he bet with Quebec City mayor Regis Labeaume over the Vanier Cup game between the University of Calgary Dinos and the Laval Rouge et Or.

For that loss, Nenshi will again have to throw on another team’s garb and read a poem of the winning mayor’s choosing, though in this case Nenshi will also have to read it in French.
