Gatineau police say a Crown taxi driver has died after his vehicle crashed into a lamppost and then struck a building early Saturday morning.
The collision happened just after 6 a.m. at the corner of Eddy Street and Rue de l’Hôtel-de-Ville.
Police say the 56-year-old driver of Gatineau was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time after.
He was alone in the car and nobody else was injured.
Police said it’s possible the driver suffered a medical problem while he was driving, but the exact cause of the collision remains under investigation.
