Winter hasn’t even officially begun and it’s already an extra snowy one – with even more white stuff on the way.

Local blogger @YOW_Weather, weather historian Rolf Campbell, tweeted Tuesday that including the recent storm, 75.7 cm of snow has been dumped on the capital, more than double the average of 37.4 cm by Dec. 12.

On Wednesday, Ottawa awoke to a dusting of snow and Environment Canada is now predicting flurries beginning Wednesday evening totalling two cm. The high is expected to be -6 C.

Good news for commuters Wednesday morning: The O-Train is back in service, the City of Ottawa traffic centre had nothing to report and the Ottawa airport was reporting no cancelled flights.

But watch out, it’s forecast to get cold – really cold – with an overnight low of -16 C.

It will feel like -27 with the windchill. Thursday’s high is only expected to hit -14 C.

Then, watch out. There’s a 60-per cent chance of snow for Friday and snow predicted for Saturday and Sunday just in time to snarl traffic on the last full shopping weekend before Christmas.

Ho, ho, ho!
