Blowing snow advisory issued for Ottawa, region

A winter travel advisory has been issued by Environment Canada for the city of Ottawa and outlying regions due to “bands of snow” blowing into the area all the way from Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.

Wind gusts to 50 km/h are associated with some of the bands, Environment Canada said in an advisory early Wednesday evening. “Brief heavy snowfall and poor visibilities are expected and will make travel challenging at times,” it said.
