The new year will be bringing big changes to OC Transpo fares and pass systems.
As of Jan. 1, all OC Transpo routes will require regular fare only, including “Connexion” routes (formerly known as Express routes).
In preparation for the O-Train Confederation Line, set to launch in 2018, OC Transpo has created a unified monthly pass to replace the regular and express passes. The express pass will no longer be valid as of Jan. 1.
You can get your new regular pass at prestocard.ca or in person at OC Transpo Customer Service Centre.
In an effort to more closely align cash and e-Purse prices, cash and single-ride fares have been reduced. Come the new year, Presto and e-Purse users over the age of 13 will pay $3.35 per ride, while cash fares have been adjusted to $3.40 per ride.
Children aged five and under will continue to ride for free, but the Student Monthly Pass will be replaced by a new Youth Pass for those aged six to 19.
“Top ups” will no longer be required of Para Transpo registrants, and a new access pass will be available for Para Transpo registrants who are not Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) recipients. The Access Pass will be the same price as the Community Pass ($42.25).
More detailed information can be found at octranspo.com.
In addition to the new fares, as usual, transit service will be free on New Year’s Eve after 8 p.m..
