Starting Christmas Day, several changes will be introduced to OC Transpo route numbers, services and stations.

New Connexion routes (formerly “express”) will be implemented throughout the network and numbered in the 200s. Most west-end Connexion routes will bypass Westboro, Dominion, Lincoln Fields, Pinecrest, Queensway, and Iris stations for the afternoon commute.

A number of 200-series routes will replace routes 135, 20B, and 64 in north- and southbound directions in the morning and afternoon.

As per the new fares coming Jan. 1, Connexion routes will now be regular fare.

Route 5 will be split into two separate routes, route 5 and 19, with route 5 operating between Billings Bridge Station and the Rideau Centre via Main and Elgin streets, while Route 19 will operate between St-Laurent Station and Bank via Vanier and Sandy Hill. Hours of service and service frequencies will remain unchanged for these two routes.

Changes are also good news for employees of Tanger Outlets in Kanata, as the evening trips on route 162 will be adjusted to better accommodate shift end times.

Kanata can now boast more than 250 free parking spaces at the new park and ride lot at Innovation Station, which will have direct service to and from downtown approximately every 15 minutes during peak periods on Routes 63 and 64.

Many of the changes implemented by OC Transpo are in preparation for connections with the O-Train Confederation Line, set to launch in 2018.

All service changes can be found at octranspo.com using the new travel planner.
