Four people were charged with impaired driving in Gatineau in overnight Saturday night as police continued to ramp up roadside checks.

In two of the cases, breathalyzer tests showed motorists had more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in their blood.

A “heavily intoxicated” man, 34, was arrested after his car veered off Vanier Road, Gatineau police Lt. Patrick Vaillancourt said.

And a 50-year-old man was arrested after his car crashed into another vehicle on Boulevard Des Grives. There were no serious injuries.

Both men had their licences suspended for 90 days and their cars impounded for 30 days.

The two were released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
