Quebec police arrested a 33-year-old Thurso man who drove at high speed past police investigating an earlier crash last Saturday.
Sûreté du Québec says it received a call of a car travelling erratically along eastbound Highway 50 near Georges Street in Masson-Angers at 7 p.m. Saturday.
The vehicle later passed officers who were at the site of a collision, in the area of Chemin Lépine.
Quebec police said in a statement Wednesday that the impaired driver almost caused a second collision at the site, before coming to a stop near Chemin Lépine.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested, and released on promise to appear in Gatineau court on Mar. 15, 2017.
His blood-alcohol level registered twice the legal leval.
His license was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was seized for 30 days.
