A little freezing rain didn’t stop Ottawa residents from taking to the streets Boxing Day Monday, despite Environment Canada predicting as much as five to 10 mm of ice across the city.
Ana-Rita da Silva was one of many Boxing Day commuters that had her trip slowed by bumper-to-bumper traffic in treacherous road conditions.

Many holiday travellers, like James Peltzer, were forced to delay their plans because of the freezing rain.
Rural routes: Turned back from an attempted trip to Ottawa today after my new car’s windshield defroster was unable to cope with the build-up of freezing rain. Snapped this on the way back to the lake along highway 60 (note – my car was parked safely on the side of the road and I got out to snap this). #photooftheday #ottawavalley #renfrew #freezingrain
