Asked about his most memorable day as a reporter this year, Andrew Duffy said it was on Thanksgiving.

That’s when he received a message from Tina Boileau, Jonathan Pitre’s mother, that a stem cell operation to help repair Pitre’s skin and hopefully extend his life had failed.

Pitre is planning to give the operation a second try, but it was a devastating result.
