You’ll want to stay bundled up, Ottawans — at least for another day or two.
Temperatures plummeted late in the week, dropping all the way to -21 C on Saturday morning. Temperatures crept up to a “balmy” -11 C in the afternoon, but by 7 p.m. the region had already reached its forecast low for the night of -16 C.
And there will be no respite on Sunday, with the daytime high expected to be -13 C before things get really cold when the sun goes down. The temperature is expected to fall all the way to -24 C Sunday night, and will feel like -32 with the wind chill.
As the week progresses, everyone should get a chance to thaw out, though. Monday should be steady around -8 C, but on Tuesday they’re calling for temperatures to nudge above the freezing point, with a high of 1 C, and on Wednesday it’s expected to be reach 2 C through the day.
The downside? There’s nary a sun to be seen on the Environment Canada website for the coming week, with the chance of snow or rain from Monday through Thursday.
