A 35-year-old Bob Cat operator has been charged with impaired driving after his machine struck the wall of the Carleton Place Hospital while clearing snow.

Ontario Provincial Police officers were already at the hospital on another matter when they were called to the scene. They found the machine had hit the wall of the hospital’s emergency department.

The incident occurred at about 2 a.m. on Dec. 18 but was not reported by Lanark OPP detachment until it issued a release on Monday.

Michael Cadreau was charged with driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. He was released on a promise to appear in court.
